Arts Etobicoke

Arts Etobicoke is a community arts council dedicated to bringing art into the daily lives of our community members. Our mission is to support local artists and develop accessible, meaningful opportunities to participate in community arts in Etobicoke. We believe people thrive when art touches their lives.

StreetART

StreetARToronto (StART) is a pro-active program that treats streets as vital public space and aims to develop, support, and increase awareness of street art and its indispensable role in generating social and economic benefits, adding beauty and character to Toronto's communities, and counteracting the negative effects of graffiti vandalism.

Artist Boo

Art has always been a central part of my life. I was an avid sketcher, and fashion designer as a child. In high school I completed a co-op in a Toronto couture shop. I spent most summers teaching arts and crafts to children. I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from U of T, I always made time to paint. I completed a diploma from OCAD in drawing and painting. In my third year I was selected for off campus study in Florence, Italy. I developed a strong studio practice, and travelled throughout Europe. I was able to see the work of my favourite artists from Vienna, and settled in Berlin for a few months, inspired by the street art. Upon graduation I worked in a Harm Reduction program for youth. This led to work in a treatment centre creating art with adults with complex disabilities. I continue to work with different social service agencies, and always use art as a tool for communication, healing, and strengthening community. I also maintain a personal art practice, and have organized many music and art events, and public murals for beautification and tag removal. I am pleased to have an opportunity to contribute to a larger scale city wide project.
